ZWO’s Entry Level Astronomy Camera
The ZWO ASI034MC proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to get started in astrophotography. It’s an affordable camera, fantastic for imaging the Moon and planets. Plus, when you’re ready to venture into deep sky astrophotography the ASI034MC serves just as well as an autoguider.
With its sensitive CMOS sensor and fast frame rate, the ZWO ASI034MC is an admirable planetary imager. It comes with a standard 1.25″ nosepiece making it easy to attach to your telescope. Simply insert the camera into your focuser in place of an eyepiece. The supplied SharpCap software displays a live image on your computer screen making it easy to get good focus. Once done, you’re ready to start recording images of our nearest Solar System neighbours. One trick to get great pictures of the planets is capturing at lightening fast speeds and the ASI034MC does just that. It can run at up to 110FPS allowing it to “freeze” moments of very steady seeing
Another benefit is that unlike monochrome cameras that require you to buy specialized colour filters and a filter wheel, the ASI034MC captures in full colour.
ZWO recently re-designed the ASI034MC to include an on camera ST4 autoguiding port. With the supplied guide cable you can connect directly to the autoguider port of your mount. This is one of the most important steps allowing you to take longer exposures of faint deep sky objects with pinpoint stars rather than wriggly streaks. The ASI034MC has large 5.6µm pixels giving it better sensitivity compared to many cameras.
